The district has one Constituency and 21 wards, which include; Nakatindi, Chongwe, Mulenje, Njolwe, Lwimba,ย  Kanakantapa, Kapete, Kasenga, Kapwayambale, Chalimbana, Katoba, Ntandabale, Palabana, Chainda, Kasisi, Madido, Nchute, Chinkuli, Manyika, Ngwerere and Mwalumina wards.
