Chongwe Member of Parliament, Hon. Sylvia T. Masebo, has officially commissioned Lusumpuko Primary School, formerly known as Muyembe Primary School, located in Muyembe Village of Katoba Ward.
The newly constructed school facility includes school desks, a modern ablution block and a solar-powered water system aimed at providing a clean, safe and conducive learning environment for pupils in the area.
Hon. Masebo, who is also Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, revealed that the 1×3 classroom block, ablution block, and solar-powered water system were constructed at a cost of K749,561.09, K385,188.00, and K195,000 respectively funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
She further stated that Lusumpuko Primary School, which is now serving over 280 learners from 82 last year is among more than 50 infrastructure projects implemented across the 21 wards of Chongwe Constituency.
These developments follow the substantial increase in CDF allocations by President Hakainde Hichilema, from K1.6 million to K36.1 million per constituency.
Hon. Masebo emphasized that the ongoing development in rural constituencies like Chongwe reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of underprivileged communities across Zambia, regardless of their background or location.
Meanwhile, Headman Muneta expressed profound gratitude to the government for prioritizing the education and welfare of children in the community.
He also commended the Member of Parliament for ensuring that remote areas like Muyembe Village benefit from national development initiatives.
