Chongwe Member of Parliament Hon Sylvia T Masebo has officially handed over a Girls Dormitory and Ablution block to Mikango Secondary School constructed through the Constituency Development Fund -CDF in Nakatindi ward.
The two projects were constructed at costs amounting to K391,000 and K402,272.05 respectively.
And the Member of Parliament who is also Minister of Lands and Natural Resources reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting the Educational Sector in the country through prioritizing the welfare of learners especially in government schools.
Ms. Masebo disclosed that the projects which were being handed over today were a response to the demands of the community adding that the act reflects government’s commitment to strengthening voices of the people at the grassroots level.
She added that the waterborne ablution is also a response to President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive to ensure that all government learning facilities have proper sanitation and water supply.
And Director Education Zambia-Army Col. D Musonda expressed gratitude to government for the unwavering support rendered to the school adding that the facilities commissioned will go a long way providing dignified accommodation to the girls and enhance their educational experiences.
He added that the gesture will also encourage the young girls to stay in school and deter them from engaging in inappropriate activities including early marriages.
The Projects Commissioned today are among the Six projects earmarked for handing over this month with a one by three classroom block, Ablution block and water reticulation system already launched in Katoba, Muyembe village last week Thursday.
