Chongwe – Friday 3rd July 2026.
CMCβs Engineering Department has continued with the routine road maintenance works.
Today the department worked on a 10-kilometre road stretch in Mwalumina Ward, from Mwalumina Turnoff to Ndombwi Village, using the CDF procured machinery.
The scope of works includes grading and spot gravelling to improve the condition of the road and enhance accessibility for motorists and local communities.
Speaking on the development, Ndombwi resident Mr. Thomas Hamajata expressed his appreciation, saying the improved road will make it easier for him to carry out his daily business activities while reducing travel challenges.
Mwalumina is one of Chongwe’s key farming areas and the improved road network is expected to facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce.
The upgrade comes at a strategic time as the Food Reserve Agency prepares to commence maize purchases, enabling farmers to transport their harvest more efficiently and access markets with greater ease.
