Chongwe District Election Officer Mr. Damson Mukwato has officially opened the training of poll staff ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Speaking at the start of the training, the District Election Officer congratulated the selected poll staff, noting that the selection process was highly competitive and that those selected had been entrusted with an important responsibility in the electoral process.
He said the training is aimed at equipping poll staff with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively manage polling stations, verify voter eligibility, handle election materials, count ballots and accurately record and transmit results.
The District Election Officer urged participants to familiarise themselves with electoral laws, regulations and procedures, while maintaining professionalism, impartiality, integrity and transparency in the execution of their duties.
He further encouraged the poll staff to remain focused and actively participate throughout the training, stressing that their conduct on Election Day will play an important role in ensuring a peaceful, smooth, transparent and credible electoral process.
